Cookies and advertising
1.Why cookies are used
This document is a translation for information purposes. The Romanian version is the legally binding one.
The website www.electrospeed.ro uses cookies.
This website uses its own cookies in order to give visitors a better browsing experience and services suited to each person's interests.
By using the ELECTROSPEED website you agree to the way we use cookies as described in this Cookie Policy. If you do not agree with the way we use cookies, you should adjust your browser settings accordingly or not use the ELECTROSPEED website. If you disable the cookies we use, this may affect your experience as a user while you are on the ELECTROSPEED website.
Cookies play an important part in adapting a website's features to users' needs, such as:
- Personalising certain settings, such as keeping the settings of various tools (calculators, comparisons and so on) and remembering those choices so that the „Back” and „Forward” buttons work, so that forms can be filled in faster, and so on.
- Cookies give site owners information about how visitors use the site, which makes it possible to improve the site's content over time.
- They allow multimedia and other applications from other sites to be embedded in a site, in order to create a more useful and more pleasant browsing experience.
- They improve the effectiveness of online advertising.
2.What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file stored on the visitor's computer. The cookie is set at the request of a web server in a web browser (for example Internet Explorer, Chrome). Cookies are generally „passive” files and contain no software, viruses or spyware.
A cookie has two parts: the cookie's name and its value. A cookie's lifetime is limited. Only the servers that can send cookies are able to read them when the user returns to the website associated with that server.
3.How this site uses cookies
A visit to this site may place cookies for the purposes of:
- using the site (certain sections - such as comparisons - cannot work properly without cookies);
- analysing how visitors move around the site;
- geotargeting (to see where users come from, by geographic coordinates);
- sign-in (to keep account access details);
- advertising (to limit how many times a banner is shown).
4.Which cookies electrospeed.ro uses
Every cookie we set is our own (not somebody else's) and strictly functional: they make the site work and let it remember you from one page to the next. We use no advertising, cross-site tracking or analytics cookies, and the data in them never leaves the site.
- Sign-in cookies (their names start with „next-auth”) - they keep you signed in after you log in and protect the forms against requests sent from other sites. Without them you cannot be signed in at all. Lifetime: at most 30 days.
- „es-tema” - remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme, so the page arrives in the colour you picked instead of flashing white on every load. Lifetime: one year.
- „es-cos” - remembers ONLY how many products are in your quote-request list, so that number is correct in the header from the first paint. The products themselves stay in your browser's memory and never reach us unless you send the request. Lifetime: 30 days.
- „es-bid” - a random number with no connection to your identity, which lets us limit abusive automated requests without affecting the other visitors on the same network (colleagues in one office, for instance). Lifetime: one year.
Because all of them are strictly necessary for the site to work, we do not ask for separate consent for them - the law requires consent for advertising and analytics cookies, which we do not use. You can delete them from your browser at any time (see the next section); the site stays usable, it simply forgets the theme and the number in your list, and you will be signed out of your account.
5.How to turn cookies off
Browsers make it possible to change cookie settings. These settings are usually found under „Preferences” → „Options”.
Refusing or disabling cookies may make certain parts of the site impossible to use.
6.Security and privacy matters
Cookies are not viruses, so they cannot duplicate or replicate themselves onto other networks in order to run or replicate again.
Cookies store information about users' preferences and browsing history and can be used as a form of spyware. Many anti-spyware products flag cookies for deletion during anti-virus / anti-spyware removal or scanning.
Browsers generally have built-in privacy settings that offer different levels of cookie acceptance, validity periods and automatic deletion after the user has visited a given site.
Information travels constantly in both directions between the browser and the website through cookies. If an unauthorised person intervenes along the way, the information a cookie carries can be intercepted. This can happen if the browser connects to the server over an unencrypted network (an unsecured WiFi network, for example).
Other cookie-based attacks involve cookies being set incorrectly on servers. If a website does not require the browser to use encrypted channels only, attackers can use this weakness to send information over unsecured channels. They then use that information to gain unauthorised access to certain sites.
